Could somone please explain the difference between LCD TV's and Plasmas. And what you think i should buy with a budget of $1500-$2000 dollars. Thankls Guys
Plasma works with gas cells and lcd is liquid cells (correct me if i'm wrong) . Depends on your usage. Plasma is good for movies but lcd for gaming imo
As Storbo said, Plasma for movies, LCD for gaming. There is much more behind that though. The main --- for plasmas is they have a great picture, and the black is black, and not gray. The main con, you leave an image on it too long, and it will start burning into your tv. Imagine, a dim version of the halo 3 life meter on your screen, while watching Return of the Jedi. Not very cool. While some video game companies are working around this now, most of them have not. The main --- for lcds, you can leave them on as much as you want, they have great picture, and you can play any video game on them without worrying about anything more than a stuck pixel. The main con, not an UBER great picture, only a GREAT picture. As for recommendations, I have both of these televisions, and I did lots of research, and sized them up against others in store for picture quality, and found them the best. They will both run you about 1799.99 CAD/US, depending where you buy from, and whether they are having a sale. If you are looking to knock off a few hundred bucks by not getting the 1080p, don't, it's worth it. plasma screens use plasmas to emit color. FYI phosphor burn isn't much of an issue anymore(and hasn't been for a fair while) so no worries in that regard Liquid crystal displays use liquid crystals to filter out pure light white. pros - low power consumption, thing, very easy on the eyes, very sharp image at native resolution. cons - relatively poor image responsiveness (important to gaming) relatively slow 60Hz input controllers(not an issue if you're using a console since most of those don't have the power to do over 60 Hz) relatively poor image quality compared to CRTs and plasmas, poor contrast, relatively poor color reproduction, somewhat poor viewing angles when using TN and MVA/PVA type pannel. image looks blurry at non native resolutions(EG: if you have good vision 720p will look mediocre on a 1080p screen if you're close) make sure you get an SIPS or HIPS if you're going for an LCD. TNs have very poor image quality(decent responciveness though) and PVA/MVA have better image quality but limited viewing angles and a bit less responsiveness. screen burn has basically almost been eradicated by the newer models of plasma's. And even if it does have some, it will generally go away after a few days or so
