    Hm.

I'm thinking between a macbook and a Dell XPS M1330.

Need it to be small so I can take it to school, too.

I own both Macs and PC's and they are both good for different purposes. What u all see to be missing is that he wants it for school. Since most of the population, and schools, use PC's i would recommend a PC just because it would be easier compatibility wise. Then again, u can always just use basecamp on ur mac to make windows run on it aswell.

Thanks to all who have helped so far!

I have found out very recently that --- Tools (the program I'll be using) has a horrendous track record with PCs/windows configurations.

While I was aware of this issue, I did not realise how hit-and-miss it can be, and that's something I'm not willing to dump the cash on right now.

I have decided I'm going to get a MacBook, as it should work fairly well with my set-up and I've been told that it works excellently for school (or at least for the classes at my college and at the university I'm going to be attending).

However, my gripe is deciding which MacBook I should get. I'm considering the white macbook, simply for it's cheaper cost, but the MacBook --- (13 inch) looks like it has some features that make it a worthwhile upgrade (for an extra... 200 dollars-ish, I believe).

    Any advice/input would be wonderful!

If you're a faggot, get the mac.

    If you have balls, don't.

Same hardware, but mac uses it less efficiently, and is made for complete faggots.
Also XP is better than OSX in so many ways, if you want the cool dock just download a windows version.

Are you joking? Comparing XP (an 8 year old OS) to OSX Leopard is like comparing a pile of sh!t to a Mercedes. The fact you even mention the word faggot while talking about this shows that you have no practical knowledge or understanding of hardware or software to back up your retarded opinion.

I want to get a laptop as well for college, but seeing most posts here, I feel like getting a pc, just because everyone seems to be disagreeing with the mac... I think macs are just eye candies. :/

Macs are good, PC's are good.

If you have the money and don't give a ----, then go get a Mac.

I think the general consensus is, if you're on a budget, you'd be better off with a PC, as you have more flexibility in what's in your price range. However, if you have the money, buying a Mac gives you a number of advantages you won't have with a PC.

It all depends on how much value you place in things like build quality, aesthetics, battery life, and OS. Most wannabe tech enthusiasts care about nothing but raw specs.

I lol when you get a $2000 mac and boot your laptop when my $800 is already on its 3rd boot.

So yeah, I care about the specs.
Those who don't simply don't know the difference between a processor and a waffle iron.

Let me put it this way, beyond a certain price point, spending extra money on higher specs is going to yield diminishing results. The $1500 laptops of today will be beaten by the $1000 laptops of next year. Spending extra money on higher specs isn't going to do anything for extending the life of your PC. Things like build quality, battery life and aesthetics will be as good 3 years from now as they are today.

Remember, we're talking about laptops here, not desktops. A quad core, SLI'd, 16gig of RAM beast is great in theory, but when you have a 5kg piece of plastic which barely fits into your car, let alone your backpack, you're obviously missing something.

The new UniBody MacBook Pros are some of the best performing models in their price range, and when you throw in excellent build quality, great looks, lightweight, thin and has very, very good battery life.

Although, you're clearly an informed buyer, so regardless of the positives of a Mac, you'll always talk up the PC. Sure, only idiots wouldn't buy what you bought, right?

Not really an informed buyer, I work with computers daily for a living.
And I'm not saying people who buy Macs are idiots, just that it is way overpriced.

You really shouldn't get all butthurt over this. My intentions were never to rise up your Mac fanboy angriness and create a miniwar.
