Kill The Credits

This is a gfx design site...not about credz.

LOL...look. Some are here to buy PSDs and ----, but the real fun is ACTUALLY DESIGNING YOUR OWN SIGS, SHOWING THEM OFF, LEARNING FROM OTHER MEMBERS, MAKING FRIENDS, GETTING BETTER AT GFX DESIGN, AND GENERALLY HAVING A FUN TIME.

All reputation system is stupid IMO. Get rid of it, it serves no real purpose.

 

Things that are really old.

This topics come up a lot lately, and the bottom line is that the credits are not going anywhere anytime soon probably. They're what keeps people here a lot of the time, so getting rid of them would make GR lose members.

 

If credits go, so does baller, and im sure a bunch of other people.

 

Credits are what attract people to this forum. It also helps when exchanging sigs and artwork. I look at it as motivating people to post and more importantly vote for battles. I agree spamming is bad. So if you see someone just tell a mod.

 

Hopefully some of the little 12 year olds will leave. DONT BE A MYg0t.

Its rough here, alot of people turn against each other over things such as credits. People wh0re PSDs. People wh0re tutorials for credits. People spam the ---- out of stuff for credits.

Everyones a greedy wh0re and rarely people give out ---- for free. Its lost the warm feel of a nice place, mostly b/c of credits and rep.

They're unnesscary, GR needs to be more in the way of fun and relaxing than "OH MY ----ING GAWD CREDITS LOL"

You are correct, this is a graphics design forum, but the credits system is a bonus factor that people enjoy and it is a good and (was a) "unique" factor at GR.

There are lots of folders in the forum where you can go around and not talk about credits, e.g the Your Stuff forum which in fact is the most popular section on the site, and not the marketplace as some people think.

To put it simply:

If we kept the credits system, then we would be able to cater for the people that enjoy using the credits system as well as the people who enjoy designing/showing off/improving their graphics.

If we got rid of the credits system, we would be able to cater for the people who enjoy designing/showing off/improving their graphics, but we would not be able to cater for people who enjoyed the credits system. Less people would be satisfied and enjoy the forum.

Finally, the original point of the credits system was to be able to have a "graphics requests" section without needing to bother with "sig staff" like other forums had. This is proven by the fact that the former name of the Marketplace is "Graphics Requests". This has worked very well, and anyone wanting a signature can easily go to the marketplace and buy one, or request one in a sig shop. If we had no credits, then there would be not as much incentive for people to sell signatures, and for the people willing to do it for free, there would defenetly not be enough resources to cater for the 1000's of people here requesting at GameRenders.
