Since i have been a member here ranking has always been unwelcomed here, hence thats why the rate the tag and artist threads were removed, was prolly more because of tutorials..but as for me its a hobby so ranking means nothing to me and i feel it should take more then a avg hobbiest to be the person to rank another persons work...i dont know just my opinion...

Xed, I totally agree with part of that. But I don't think we should have the ranking system really mean anything. It would just be a fun addon...nothing serious. For those who want to be ranked by some of the fellow chosen artists and members on GR to earn a rank. I think it would just be fun, and I think it would attract more members and give some members more to do.

personally, I think ranking makes you strive to be the best you possibly can in the public's eyes and well as your own.

Most of the staff really shouldn't be classing anyway.

See it is possible it would give people big heads and what not, and I think if that happened so much that it just got plain irritating thats when you give a warning out and take away the ranking system. I am not saying do it, but I mean you never know unless you at least do a trial run.

I think with a 'classing staff' of mature people with a mission in their minds...to honestly give their opinion and critique on someone, in order to give them constructive criticism to help them strive for a higher class would be invaluable to the community. The downside is gonna be picking a staff of people who actually want to do it...not many people will want to be 'harsh' to members who are new and unexperienced...although those members will also deserve the classing to help themselves improve. I also feel that adding in a 'class' ranking when we C&C tags could help as well....for those of us who want to help others get better, being able to sell a tutorial as 'mod' or '-------' or whatever could prove useful to those striving to get to that 'tier' so they can see the steps and styles used in making a tag on that level. Theres several members I can think of off the top of my head who're very active in giving C&C and tend to give their 100% honest opinion.

And as far as people having 'big heads'...I think the members who're better...already know they're better. You see their PSDs sell higher...and start off at a higher price. I dont really think itll come any different as far as everyones e-egos. Just enforce a 'no bitching' about your class...get re-classed every 60-90? days...

I also think this would allow for a ranked battling system, that way you'll know on what level the person you're battling is...and can even allow the one requesting a battle to only allow certain ranks to accept...to great a even playing field.

If a ranking system does get added here, just wow,(note I have no problem with ranking), but this site was so against it, people got banned over it, or suspended when they bypassed the filters. You guys thought people where only buying ---/ ------ --- worked, so the words were censored(which still failed because people still knew who is who).

And no offense the ranking system wont help people get better, when people start to know they are good and people think they are awesome, it wil start to go to their head. I am just saying what I have seen at other forums, and you know you guys see it too.

You know what adding ranks will do to this site?, turn it to your everyday, regular, and generic gfx forum. (Its True)

If that does happen we take it off. But see, it will push the people who are not as good to do better, because they won't want to be known around GR as a low rank...it will push them to work on the gfx more and improve. If it does get to people's head to, then staff can give a warning or what not, and go from there.

I just think we should at least do a TRIAL run.

it would lead to people copy people work exactly so they will be ranked high, when I made sigs on chaosgfx, competition is what made me better. I always wanted to compete

and SCENE, GR isn't a generic gfx forum, its missing the classing section ;D

So you got better from competition (ranking) yet its a bad thing for GR?

I give up debating...I think this could be a very good thing for GR to at least JUST TRY.

It would be overwhelming for the staff/whoever is ranking too. There is such a mass amount of members...
