... to hook up to Xbox Live via a wireless connection without using an expensive adapter?

My Wii tapped right into the wireless internet; I didn't have any problems with it. I just don't know the Xbox's point of connection.

...I have a PC that runs off of wireless in my room and a Laptop as well...

    can it be done?!?!

Well, unless your Xobx has a built in wireless reciever (which the Wii has) then no. Plain and simple.

You could either use a bridged connection, or...

Go to your network connections and right click your wireless adapter.
    Go to Sharing
Check the Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)
    Turn on your Xbox
Plug your Xbox into your PC's LAN port.
