I realize both are mediocre (I'm new), but was wondering which one you guys thought was better. I personally like the first one, but I thought it was too bright.

i can dig what ya were after with these,
but im not feeling the added color,
not to bright, just odd colors of light,
and most people pick the light as in,
where the light would be originaly located

there are loads of resources & tutorials on GR,
and people willing to help here also,

so my advice just practise, and keep at it :)
and the best of luck 2u,

just remeber the no#1 tip, practise,

You work "good" wit the text.
It is kinda too blurred in the background and a lil too birght, as you mentioned.
Set the light source just from one point and not from two, that looks weird.
    The effects are pretty good.
