    to turn myhd into a running server (on 24/7) (with whm etc...) ???

    nevermind L) did it :) going to set it up now! i still dont know how to do the following...

    find out my nameservers... (for domain)
    and cpanel etc.

    what do you want to use a server for? Irc? chats? something like that?

    looks at how you don't help...

    anyway, I know you have to pay ~$45 a year to have your server up on the net, then you get your information you need, your nameserver and such.

    cpanel is a program that you run on a server, same as PHP, and Apache. Cpanel costs money to run though, not sure how much..

    If you want it to be on the net, you are better off with having a Linux/Unix Operating System on it than Windows, it runs alot smoother.

    You need to pay to get nameservers setup and cPanel I have seen for 49 dollars a year or a month not sure which, Apache and mySQL are free but cPanel is either a monthly or yearly fee and nameserves shouldn't be that much.

    I don't think there is but I have seen sites selling licenses for like 45 dollars a month if that helps.

    You also wanna be careful with hosting sites on your computer. Some ISPs dont allow you to use your internet connection to connect to a server, and could cancel your service if they find you are doing so.

    As for hosting nameservers, well, if you ran linux I beleive you can host your own nameserver.
