Maybe its either we are too ignorant or we are too smart. Why the smart theory? Honestly, we are one of the largest importers or foreign goods. I dont see how other nations will gain profit with the largest oil importer and such being cut off. Besides, even with France and Britain to import oil, their new policies on environmental safety and energy development make oil trade with them somewhat less efficient than with the US.

Do you even know what imperalism is? Have you not seen America extend its hand into S. America COUNTLESS times. Overthrowing DEMOCRATICALLY elected goverments because they dont serve Americas intrest. And who attacks someone because of a weaker military?? I have a strong feeling that you dont know what imperalism is. Imperalism can take many forms not only militarily but also economically because usually it is fund and run because of the possible economic gain from the imperalistic option.

 

Yes I do know what Imperialism means. And can you give me an example (link) of when the USA has overthrown an non-democratic government? Not trying to be sarcastic, I just haven't heard of that.

I know that Imperialism is not just militarily, but I would assume that Chavez meant that the USA is militarily taking over a weaker nation. I say that because most of the people who I have spoken to that believe America is an imperialistic country mean that we use our military to our advantage.

I will give you a prime exmaple of imperalism in S. America and that is the reomval of Allende from power after he was democractically elected. The US sponsored general pinochet to led a coup because the newly elected Leftist Allenda goverement did not suit Americas intrest so they supplied and fought along with pinochet to take power. And once pinchoet took power, he inprisoned and killed thousands of people.
