I got the 30 gb video iPod for Christmas, which seems to be the gift of choice, and am trying to convert .avi files into the .mp4 files required for the iPod. Is there anyway to watch the videos before I transfer them to the iPod to make sure they work?

wow, im retarded. anyway, the reason I was confused is because after I converted them and watched in iTunes, it didnt work. My parents are divorced, so I have to go from house to house, and since iTunes only syncs on one computer, I tried to convert the files to mp4 at one house, and bring them to the other house to be synced. I guess the converter I'm using doesn't work so well. are there any good avi to mp4 converters you can download for free?
