Well, I got a nano off of a friend of mine yesterday and I've been trying to connect to the computer. The trouble is, iTunes or my Computer (XP) both do not detect the iPod connection. It does charge, though I cannot access it.
Sometimes, I will get an error in iTunes saying that the iPod is corrupt, and encourages a restore. However, when I click restore my computer locks up.
What I'm hoping to do is wipe the iPod completely, and be able to connect and sync my songs to it.
    Any help appreciated.

Connect your iPod to the computer, then go to e: and that should be your iPod, then format it and it will remove all of the crap off of the iPod...you should then be able to hook it back up to iTune and sync it.

My computer does not display the iPod, would typing E: into the explorer make a difference?

Hmm, thats odd. All I do is hook up the iPod with the usb cable that came with it, plug it in, go to my computer, type in e: and it should be there, even when you DONT have iTunes it will still be there.

As I said, it's not my Nano to start with, so if I was to contact Apple I'd have no proof of purchase, unless the guy still has his reciept or something. I'll try to get in touch with 'em.
Does anyone think it would make a difference if it was on their iTunes though? I mean, if I went to their house and used their iTunes to wipe it, would it work on mine?
