Well, I've been asked to design a website for a radio station. The radio station is a lot of discussion shows, so I brought up the idea of adding a message board to the site to extend discussion to the people listening. Would you consider IPB or vBulliten better for a professional forum. I'm demoing vBulliten right now and the first thing i notice off the bat is that the skinning system is much easier...
skinning/modding vB is EXTREMELY easy in comparison to IPB. Personally, if I was going to invest my time in something professional I would do it with vB, although I do love IPB, all the skins look alike. vB has some spunk, differences in most of their skins and definately more professional skins available to them.
I'm an IPB type of guy, but for organizations/companies/whatever you wanna call it, I'd say go vb. Thats just my opinion.
IPB you would go with if you wanted a gaming forum mostly. If you want a proffesional message board VB is your best bet
That is right, but IPB is also professional + there are many more mods availible, compared to vB. However, its your choiche, both are good.
Yea but how many radiostations care about credits, reputation, store, etc. But still, I'd say go with vb as a few other people have said, its more professional. IPB = 1000's of poorly made graphics and/or gaming websites made by little kids. Let me know how it goes...How'd you get this job anyway?
I use IPB for my forum, because i could get 2.0.0 free. But i have to say in my opinion Vbulliten is much better.
VB > IPB for professionalism... I actually once installed it, and it gave me a whole ---full of problems. then i found out the mysql database on the server was whacked... I know a site where it is used, and used well. although I cant post it on here, would break the TOS if you get my drift.
