Ok, i've set up a network between my laptop and my Pc, the network all works fine and i can play games over LAN, but i mainly got the nework because i wanted to share the internet, i have tried loads of stuff but i still can't get it to work. I'm getting slightly stressed out with this now and i've been trying to get it to work for over 3 weeks. No website i have found have helped either. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
ok, what hardware are you using? router? wire/less? do you have DSL? Cable? Dial-up? tell me that and I can help.
I have a crossover cable connecting the 2 together, i'm on broadband but i use a modem too. Erm my internet connection is DSL.
ok, thats your problem. you need a router, wireless or not. a simple crossover will not share your internet between the computers, only share files. get a wireless router, 802.11g, from www.pricewatch.com . there you will find the cheapest stuff. then you have to set up the router to 192.168.0.xxx, so it is different from your modem,s IP, which is probably 192.168.0.1
Well when i first got the connection up, just to test, me and my brother could both login to Runescape and could see each other and interact with everyone else. But it dosnt do that anymore. Thanks for the help anyway, i'll see if i can get a router sometime.
