Just curious, but no time to search right now. Is it possible to install a program like Lightroom (or Photoshop) onto an external hard drive and use it on any computer? I've heard of people installing browsers and Linux on their thumbdrives to use them at school, and I was thinking how awesome it would be if I could use this program on any computer. It would save me time too, since I like to borrow nearby laptops, and I could put my photos into a lightroom catalogue immediately if this is feasible.

Usually when a program or OS is ran off a thumbdrive, its been slimmed down and made portable.

Theoretically it will not work if you just install a program that requires the registry for values such as the serial number that required for adobe products to be retrieved.

You can just install lets say photoshop on an extremal hdd then unplug it and plug it into a friends laptop and run it. It needs to access the registry of your computer. But the good news is most anything can be turned portable. http://portableapps.com/ is a great website for portable free software for thumbdrives, and with some googling, you can find what you're looking for.

Youc an install it on an external fine, using it on multiple systems can be a problem, especially with apps that use H-ID's
