i finished putting together all parts for my new comp after a long ass time and when i try installing wins 2000 os, it comes up with "Inaccessible_Disk" error.

i tried messing with the harddrive and others i had laying around. even some of the bios setting which i thought it was booting up from first.

    hardware im using

    c2d 6400
    gigabyte 965p-ds3 motherboard
    seagate 320gb PRM harddrive
    ocz 850w psu
    evga 8800 gts gpu

i really want to install the os into my hdd at this point. ive tried everything i know. anyone know why it keeps coming up with "Inaccessible_Disk" error??

Are you using SATA or IDE hard drives? Have you tried using those hard drives on another desktop?

ive been using sata and ide hdds. ive tried them on other computers and they work.

it could be the motherboard like xelink said but anyone else have other guesses?

You can try flashing the bios before replacing and buying a new mobo.

Run Chkdisk. Usually takes care of that in wins 2000.

BTW why run windows 2000 and not XP?

it varies slightly from board to board, but you typically use a floppy and boot from it.

    google/check manual.
