Sorry but I'll choose statistics over your uncle, I wont quote any because I cant remember the exact ones but I've seen several suggesting that in Britain at least a degree will not only help your employment chances but also improve your chances of better pay.

A lot of people still don't get employed after uni. Meh. Sucks to be them but they're amongst the minority.

And yes I'll be studying computer science to help get me a job in software engineering, a job which no big company will employ you as without a degree.

    Draxxus, that's enough.

XeN, yeah I was trying to say that my Uncle was just successful because it's what he wanted to do, it's not for everyone and he was also pretty lucky.

It's been awhile, but I think if you don't go on with your education, something like 2/3 of the job market it closed for you, and on average you receive 200,000 dollars more in your lifetime than people who don't go (in Alberta, at least. Keep in mind those stats are messed up because we have a lot of highschool drop-outs who go to work on the rigs and make crazy amounts of cash). Also, remember that pay-scales often operate on your education degree. For example, teacher with a doctorate is paid more than a teacher with their masters. I completely agreed with what you're doing.

Should have finished what I wanted to say earlier lol.

    we don't.

and pffff who's saying $80,000? try $100,000. and yes. I shouldn't have to worry about that.

When the "the economist" starts talking about depression, then i'll start worrying. For now, im going to trust my own education over the popular news media.

    Oof?
Why? The whole topic is about being deferred.
    SPAMMERS!!!!!

    Anyway.
Seriously, if you drop your education just because of the economic downturn then you're probaly too stupid to warrant an education anyway ; 10 years time, you're ------ed, we're not.

Sucks you got deferred, but, just means more waiting, you'll live.
I got accepted into Manchester so ehm, it's a little harder to care. =(
