Exactly, they currently aren't so until they are willing to do this, I don't think it's a good idea.

I only used that as an example to help explain it, not to say it happened all the time.

If you're going to say theres a 7 day limit, your basically telling all scammers "You've got 7 days to get rid of the credits".

If someone intented to scam, chances are they'll be able to get rid of them in 7 days, if someone didn't intent to scam the issue is usually resolved very quickly.

This is in place of all those morons who feel the need to post in scammers section after they haven't gotten what they paid for in the middle of the weekend. Its more of a time to wait to make sure its a scam before posting a topic.

Also, if your so against this, bring up another rule such as this:
There, solves your problem, and doesn't leave a problem open other then the occasional person who sells something on the spur of the moment to get credits to sell them, and in that case, this rule will already have been in effect and they should have known atleast a week in advance that they would need the money. If not, and you need it for real life, Paypal has a 3-5 day waiting period to transfer money back to your bank account anyways.

I don't agree with people posting in the middle of the weekend, but that rule in the marketplace would go unenforced.

It's not that I don't agree with the rule, it's just that there have been, and will be cases where because of it, people won't or can't be refunded.

That rule won't go unenforced, you really need to join the IRC more. Its like a batch of mods all over the place in there posting links for the for the real mods to deal with that we may skip over with how many new topics and posts are made in a day. Also, those cases of can't and won't be refunded happen... the world isn't fair, and life goes on, its an internet site with artificial money.

This helps a majority of those, and while it may not benefit those people who aren't refunded, what will then? Not using this won't help them at all, it just doesn't work to benefit the other members who this would help, hence not putting this into effect would be more harmful than it would be just to let it happen.

Scams happen, especially at a marketplace site like GR, what eBay is for real life items, GR is basically for signatures and small art or simplistic large art. People from a wide range of graphics communities come here just to sell stuff here, not even to be a true member, which is why scams happen. Just like a virus, scams happen at the place most likely to make them devastated, for viruses its Microsoft Windows and Norton's Antivirus. For signatures, steam accounts, rips, etc., its Gamerenders.

There is no way to guarantee fraudulent scams don't happen, but there is a way to prevent people from being so paranoid they draw the mods attention to this forum instead of letting them do all of their numerous jobs. Look all over in that forum and you will see people fighting with everything they have to try to prove that someone who didn't send something within 2-3 days a scammer, and normally its a 'I was out of town with my family for the weekend' or, 'it was the weekend and I have a social life' or something to that effect.

Putting in a 5-7 day minimum days you must wait to report a scammer benefits more people than it hurts. Scams will happen, thats the end of it, but its not like they don't already. Some people need to sacrifice for others to gain, if the world was completely selfish think about where anyone in the world would be today... exactly, we'd be nowhere. People give up some of their freedoms for others in real life, why not on the net?

Or perhaps there should be a rule that your required to have... what... 25 visible rep, and no more than -5 rep to sell something in the AH/Offers/Store. I generally think that people who work hard enough to earn 25 rep nowadays aren't the kind of people who are going to rip off someone else here on the forums and get themselves banned.

250-500 posts, 25 visible positive rep and no more than 5 negative rep to post in The Marketplace section. Sounds fairly reasonable to me, and most of the people who do sell there already meet those requirements. It also stops people from signing up just to increase their own personal wealth amongst the site and forces them to be an active member before selling. Donators can bypass that, but Premium Members cannot. Paying $25 I think its a good chance that they won't scam you, and if they do, $25 down the drain.

Im at a school and port 6666 is blocked, I wish I could get on the IRC.

Now, Mods can't check credit logs, so how would they know how those creds were obtained?

I honestly wouldn't mind to see a post count for the marketplace, and I know that can be done easially, but I think there'd be a bit of coding to get the 25 reps.

Yea, I agree more with that, maybe 25 is too much. A lot of people would get pissed off.

I said that shaggy was looking into a way of doing it via possible se.mi-ACP access.

Ill wait for a global to put in their ideas on the subject.

I think waiting 1 week, and putting in a restriction on rep and posts to enter the marketplace would be a good idea, and a good thing to incorporate with Gamerenders v3, along with the new skin, a couple of new mods/coding.

Talked to some of the globals and apparently more scams than I am aware of have occured with donators/premium members and above 1000-1500 posts and 25- rep... so my idea doesn't quite work out.

Well yea I also agree, but not 7 days. Seems kinda long to wait for ur creds. IMO it should be 3 days.

    3 Days isn't enough time.

I mean some people go out of town for 5 days or more.

You have to give them a chance. And half the time they sent the pm but it wasn't recived because of Lag.

5 days would be appropriate, 3 days is jut a long weekend, 5 days is the casual seller/viewer.

In the least, we can try this out to see how it goes, and if it doesn't go well then we can always remove the rule and go back to standard policy.

I dont think we will be putting this rule in.

While it is good in theory, that would require us to check dates every single time someone posts in order to verify that they did wait the 5 days.
