Use wood shavings, its at the petstore go ask them. Don't get a hamster they are stupid. Get a bearded dragon. If the hamster is cheap its probably sick. I never bought any animal from a petstore, they have so many and most of them are not taken care of or are extras unwated from breeders. Go directly to the source to get animals, not petstores.
dont buy one dude they will definatly stink up your rooom with gross ---- and piss hamster smell... i dont recommened it if you dont have frebreze or air freshener :lol:
haha, that reminds me of a story. I bought this female hamster from a local pet store for 4.99$ I had it for sooooo long 2-3 years. So one morning i wake up, and go in and pick her up; and it hisses at me. So i'm like wtf? So i move her to the side and i see TONS of little baby hamsters in the corner under her. I'm like omg how the hell? It was pregnant when i bought her. :| 18 babies total, and man did they grow extremly QUICK, I had to get rid of them all, becuz they were gettin out of the cage and having babies with eachother :wacko:
Just remember if you do get a hamster get a smooth turning wheel. They run on it so much and if you get a crappy one you cant sleep because the hamster is running on it.
If you are planning on getting a hamster so you can inter-breed it with your dog, it doesn't work, just to let you know
Hamsters are great pet for a child since I had one but was given away because the smell was horrible and it never stop running on the damn wheel.
