How about updating this to v2.1.5 ? Everything you need is out there to install. The site would be more secure, and its nice to have a change sometimes.

Except that IBStore is better than perfect points. Besides, we should work on changing the skin or something before we go and change the version of IPB.

Not to mention I'm not sure if Perfect Points would carry over the same amount of credits that users currently have.

im not saying this because I know nothing about it. How is IBStore better than any other point system? It servers the same purpose, u get points per post/reply, it can be set per forum, even the amount of points can differ per forum. Upgrading is always a good thing, the longer a board version is out, the longer people have to figure out malicious ways of bringing one down. Ive seen several v2.0.4 boards hacked and destroyed. Upgrading can be done without any trouble, I have built many IPB v2.1.x sites, I can build one in less than a day. ( Skins, Points System, Download System, Tutorial System, Group Name Indicator )

And if a new skin is needed, I have many commercial skin, all paid for of course, check my accounts at the skin sites. I would be happy to donate one if it will be used. I have Air, Ambience, Plasma, and Disturbed for v2.0.x

why would you wanna make a new skin for the current forum then upgrade IPB? then you would have to recode the skin for the newer version of IPB.

IBStore's system is moreso secure than perfect points without additional modifications to the files, and, if i remember correctly, perfect points left room for a crack into the forum security... it was somewhere on the invisionize forums a little while back around 2.1.1 or 2.1.2.

Upgrading isnt always a good thing, there has always been initial releases (yes, even in IPB/vB) that have errors and need fixing, its often worth while to wait a few months before upgrading, but you also need to have knowledge as to how to make the modification upgrades to new system files (like the rep mod, the store mod, etc.).

Also, this site has the reputation mod that, as far as I know, is still under development for 2.1.x. And as said, we dont know if perfect points will carry over the existing points, which could lead to a disaster.

it can, perfect points have been out for maybe a year now? not sure how long, IPB is now on version 2.1.5, i had a v2.0.4 board with this exact same skin on it, and btw, u cant hack the perfect points system unless u can break the encoded source guardian, and the reputation mod work fine for v2.1.x, there is nothing this site has that can not be updated to a more advanced, secure version.

you can look at matt's words on IPB, 2.0.4 and 2.1.4-5 are both equally secure. the only reason more people tend to use 2.0.4 is the mod selection and that most 2.1.x additions to the standard 2.0.x are available individually for selection of specific ones you want.

and perfect points origional modifications guide left open a space for the ability to get into the secure files, there was a new .txt or .html document (forgot which one the perfect points system uses) that came out that has the fixed version of the file modding that doesnt allow access to additional credits and other admin related store functions.

    First of all,

We hold alot of modifications that aren't currently available on the newest version of IPB. Some you the members see, others you do not.

Second of all, IBStore is alot better then Perfect Points hands down. Not only when it comes to appearance, but functionality. In order to install what IBStore offers, it would take two modifications...increasing the loading time. Add that to the fact that IBStore is the longest running store modification, and that it exists with no security bugs. Their are bugs with it, yes...but their currently being fixed.

If we were to transfer to the newest version of IPB, i doubt we would get a new skin beforehand. So it'd be up to the members to decide: New skin or new version.

rofl, i see, but just exactly what is it you are wanting it to do? its a points system, yes i agree IBStore is better and is currently ( if not already, ill check ) being coded for v2.1.x. Points system is a points system as long as it does what u want it to do, no Perfect Points doesnt come with power steering and A/C but it does drive straight. I also noticed that I am member number 81,473 im sure it would be nice to start again with a band new sql database, the longer v2.1.x is out there, the more mods are created and the more tutorials i will make and soon my 1st full modification ( drat on the Per Forum Title Color! ). Maybe go ahead and create the new sql db, build the v2.1.x and let a few test members in to get a feel for it, like a test drive to work out all the bugs, maybe offer a few new skins instead of just 1, i spend a good bit of time over at IZE and have been involved in several of the mods that have been created recently and I have to say that as for the functionality of v2.0.x versus v2.1.x, it doesnt stand a chance, I moved to v2.1.x and now cant for the life of me understand why people continue to build the unsecure v2.0.x boards. But hey, its their money, let them do with it what they will. I didnt mean to stur up a debate, i was just making a suggestion. :)
