Nah, I am not mad nor do I feel stupid, I just made this topic to stir up everyones emotions. Oh, and by the way sorry I do not type in Old English and spell colour, I do however spell color in the way that the majority of english speaking people do. That's right, America holds the worlds majority of english speakers, nearly 300 million people. Almost all of us say it's spelled color. Need proof? Goto google.com, type color then type colour. Notice, more results show up for color than colour. Why? because the majority of this world types and spells that way...I may be outnumbered here. Elsewhere people would look at you like your an idiot. By the way, the english language was not invented by any one civilization, but in fact influenced my several different cultures. I am sorry for writing this novel of a post and sorry that it came across as me hating everyone who spells it colour. I am just saying your with the minority.

editors in books choose to use words like "colour" instead of "color" and such, as technically it IS correct english. its a matter of the feel your going for. in certain circumstances writers will use "colour" to reflect elegance or sophistication, other times it will use "color" in order to relate to the common reader or the times of the book. I know first hand Stephen King incorporates both words in his writings, sometimes in the same book varying on who is talking at the time, whether it be a common person or the mayor/governor/highly educated person kind of thing.

    So what?
The large Majority of Americans who say Color are completely wrong. The true English Language spells it like Colour, if you cant be bothered to properly learn the language then that is your problem. Most of America speak English...doesnt mean they get to re-write the English language.

    1. America didn't "re-invent" OLD ENGLISH
    2. Rather we simply meshed together many forms of English from different cultures
    3. Majority spell it color, I am right your wrong
    4. please continue

Jesus it is not like everyone should be getting mad over the way words are spelled. I used the word hate, that was a bit strong but for god sakes everyone calm down. Save the ulsors for when your 50

So the majority doing it makes it right?
It's not OLD English it's RIGHT English.
Just because ONE country spells it wrong, does NOT mean the spelling of the word is changed to match your intellect.

actually, he is correct, the US is the only country that spells colour as color as well as the other words. canadians natively spell it colour, as well as most of europe, unless they commonly write back and forth with americans over IMs and e-mails and such. they traditionally spell color as colour and same with all their other words like favorite to favourite, armor to armour, etc.

a majority doesnt make anything right at all. if a majority believes there is no gravity, that doesnt change gravity's effect on us nor does that change that its present. you can deny something as much as you want, that doesnt change the facts.
