Tempe isn't that bad. There's just not much to do here if you don't go to ASU or work for US Airways. It's a big college town and there are a bunch of bars nearby.
It's a little pricey to live there due to it being a college town. You can find better places to live in West Mesa (on the border with Tempe) for 60% of the cost. The crime rate there is also higher as, again, it's Tempe, and it's closer to Central Phoenix, which is one of the worst cities in the US in terms of crime. I live far enough away from suburbia to keep myself in my own little area, away from everything else.
Queen Creek here, but I can still make it to the campus in about 20 minutes (I'm one of those guys on the 60 going 80+ mph and zipping between cars).
or you can cheat and go to asu west i had a couple classes there last semester. tip: it's a lot easier to zip between cars on a motorcycle
I came from Colorado, after having lived there for just about 10 years. When I drove down here I started at -15 degrees, and I was comfortable lol Living in Arizona a few months now and basically I only leave the house in the really early mornings or in the middle of the night. Going out mid-day is like torture to me.
i've been a fan of them since before they became cool  it annoys me when people quote don't trust me. especially when none of them know dragon backpack (even though the song is terrible rofl)
I listened to them when they were only famous on PureVolume. A year and a half after first getting their album, it's launched in NZ. Don't Trust Me gets radio play time, everyone starts talking about it, and a little part of me died. A very small part, but still. Some people say they don't listen to music based on mainstream/underground, that they just like what sounds good, but mainstream exposure kills good indie/underground bands in ways you cant even imagine.
