Recently, a friend asked me to build him a computer the day before he went on vacation, without even my opinion he shoved me a check for $1500 dollars and drove home. I have no idea what kinds of parts to get for the computer or how to build it.. but he wants a gaming computer.

anyone wanna help me out with buying parts?
(if you look them up, include the links) I'll send 50 creds to anyone who helps.

no no no. tigerdirect is the worst place. they have bad reputation. none of their rebates come in the mail. i recommend http://newegg.com. also if you have no idea on how to build a computer then dont try. its not worth the hassle.

If you live in the US and have a Fry's Electronics near you, go there. Building a computer isnt hard. Buy some parts, which ones? Talk to the people at the store and they can generally help you out. As for putting it all together, read the book that comes with the MoBo. Thats what I did building my first and have had no problems with it. Still using it right now.

Get an Asus Mobo, AMD CPU at least a Gig of RAM, and a 256 MB video card. The rest is up to you. He needs a CD burner but you might be able to get him a DVD-RW double layer pretty cheap right now. No need for any other drives except for a 3.5 floppy, just in case<<<<$12 maybe.

Dont be afraid to try and build a computer, you will find that it isnt hard at all, just take your time and it will purr like a kitten.

I know I've recomended this in other threads but it should help nonetheless. Go rent "Building PCs for Dummies" from a nearby library. Or you could buy it from amazon. It's a great book, lots o' information.
