I would go with .defuzions build, it's still possible to cut some corners, like he said lower end graphics card, and you could go with a smaller hard drive etc.

But otherwise it's a stable build that should be able to do what you need of it, within limits.

Yeah dude. You should go with DeFuzion's post because the parts he detailed will give you a kick-ass PC performance once you're done building.

If you want to save money on the power supply ... go with this one. Click here to go to the page. I bought it about 3 months ago ... its very nice. Cools the case and the PSU at the same time because it has 2 fans. The reason I bought it is because I bought a new graphics card and it powers my x850 XT Platinum Edition with no problem ... even after overclocking quite a bit. It is very quiet and has all the cables you will ever need. Great choice if your on a budget and still want quality.

Now that is an awesome power supply. Funny thing is that I have that exact PSU on my PC right now. The reason I bought it because my NVidia GeForce 6600GT (EVGA-brand) has the power connector and it powers up with no problem as well. :D

    Quick question...

If i went with this motherboard would I need to buy a video card? It says it comes with a nVIDIA GeForce 6100 chip onboard. So I guess I do not need to buy the ATI card.

And will it work with this processor? I am guessing both are a yes.

If both are a yes this might drop the price down a fair amount.

Edit: I am looking to downsize the hard drive, I am going to choose between this1 and this2. Tell me which is best by saying, "this1" or "this2." There is not much difference, one has an 8mb cache and the other has a 16mb cache. I do not know if that really matters though.

So you are saying that the video card in it is bad? I do not do much computer gaming, in fact, none at all. Just Photoshop and everyday use ie: schoolwork, internet browsing, no pr0n... :P

There is no video card, it's integrated. If you do ANY gaming at all, you will want a video card. If you want PS to look good, you want a video card.

My suggestion for you is that you wait 6 months to a year and get more knowledge about what you are doing before you order your computer. from some of your comments here I can picture you sitting at your desk saying "What do I do next?" That's never a good thing to say when you are building a computer. Please don't take this the wrong way, I just don't want you putting it together and then frying it your first boot and be out $700.

If you would like ... I will scan some pages from my PC Gamer Magazine. In it ... there is a 77 step by step process on how to build your own computer. It also has a suggested parts list. You could also get the parts that they used in it for much cheaper now. Might be close to your price range. If you want it scanned ... just ask ^_^

Avoid it. It is a horrible psu, realiable yes. But it is not very powerfull. only 18a on the 12v rail. just enough to power a 6600GT or a x800.

AMD is definetly for gaming. socket 939 64-bit processors must be the best. i think the system you've put together is excellent but the case should be a little cheaper and now "the flashiest case you can find" as was mentioned. for a couple more bucks taken away from the case perhaps you could get a 5700 or even a PCI-E or AGP8X 6800GT

even if he doesn't have an intention to do any gaming i'd stick with the AMD. the RAM... for a little bit more bump it up to 2 gig. 1 GB should be a minimum nowadays especially for high-demand gaming and graphics.

great work with putting the system together :D i am sure it'll be great! :D

    [EDIT]:

THAT'S amazing! the CPU is an improvement over what was posted for sure! the case is cheaper too  X700 should be pretty good but there should be a single-stick 1 GB RAM. but it's really fantastic! great job! :D

I'm pretty sure that my x850 XT Platinum Edition overclocked to 565 and 1230 is much more powerful than a x800 or a 6600 GT and it runs great with that power supply.

Thanks for all of your input, I love the case, I am not going to change it. No way in hell :P

I may make some minor changes, probably not. All there is left to do now is convince my mom to let me buy the computer. That is going to be tough.
