not applicable, that motherbaord doesn't support the Core 2s.

a 4300 is basically the same CPU, albiet with some mdoerate diferences.

it runs natively at a 200mhz bus and a 9x bus multiplier(1.8GHz external clock speed)
    the e6300 runs at a 266mhz bus with a 7x multiplier(1.86GHz external clock speed)

the thing about the e4300 is that you can up the system bus to say 400mhz and the chip will run at 3.6GHz.

at 400mhz FSB, the e6300 woudl only run at 2.8GHz.

also, a lot of motherboards don't liek running much higher than 400ish, atleast not with any kind of reliability.

remember, with two similar chips, extewrnal clock speed scales almost linearly with performance. doubling the clock speed more or less doubles the performance of the chip.

also, remember that Core 2s ARE VERY efficient. At 3.6GHz, it is comapreable to a 6.5-7.0GHz Pentium D. Note that such a thing does nto exist(in a typical computing enviroment)

no.... it has a higher multiplier then the the 6300.

and no FSB speeds are not everything

and about the game playing the answer is yes it will play games well.

FSB speed matters to an extent and increasing it definately increases performance.

but in the end clock speed is king. You'll get the biggest boost form a faster CPu than from faster motherbaords and faster RAM.

goign form 200FSB to 400FSb might get UP TO 15% in some things and would probably have a 5% overall eprformance boost if the CPU speed was mantained at it's original speed.

increasing the CPu by 100% might give you a 95% overall speed increase.
and look... the 5% from the FSB brings you up to an even 100%

also, it's nto the CPu that OCs better per se. it's that in order to OC the CPU by x% you don't have to push everything else as far. You only need 300FSb for a 100% overclock insteed of 533FSB.

The e6400 is like $80 more in the UK, is it worth getting the e4300?

I'd say that the 4300 is the best buy.

The GFX card would be great!! Get the eVGA 7900GS, then in mid-march you can get the 8600 Ultra for FREE .. Because of the eVGA Step-Up program.
