Well, I am doing a sprite sig right now. The background is pretty decent in my opinion, not finished yet, but I have a good base. How am I going to put my sprite in it that it looks nice? I'm having this right now: How am I going furder with a good blending? I have no idea. Thanks in advance for sharing your opinion...
Maybe try smudging over it? I did that with the sprite in my sig over the feet, and it turned out blended.
Basically what he said. btw great advice man, great advice, mind if I use it some time when I get the chance? =P
One of the most helpful ways of blending anything, whether STOCK image, Render Cutout, Sprite, Photograph, or what have you, is to use the ERASER TOOL. Opacity of 100%, Brush Tool Setting FLOW of 2% or 1%. Make sure you have a dark background (LAYER FILLED WITH BLACK, #000000), as the bottom LAYER or first Layer start. Duplicate your Sprite (...or any main image for that matter...), and then hide the original one, so in case you mess up you will still have the original to start over and of course, repeat the process of duplication, until you perfect it. Now, zoom in on your main image, at 200%, and use the ERASER TOOL with those settings, and decrease the pixel size of your Brush Tip, make sure your FLOW is set at 1% or 2%, with 3% being max. Then lightly brush parts of the sprite away, until it is blended and faded with DEPTH into the background or the "cloud" cover of your background, as complimenting the entire theme and signature enviorment. Once you've made the steps that fit your desires, its good to add more elements, but not to over do it. First of all, make the background, than put your sprite in it, and put some effects over the sprite (make sure the sprite remains visible). Make the flow in the direction of the flow of the sprite (always use sprites that have action in it).
I hope you don't mind, but I edited your tag abit in photoshop, this was done with a few layers. Just to show u it as example, if u want the PSD to it than feel free too ask, I'll label the layers I've added to it.
The easiest way is to just have effects above the render covering it, here is an example (not the best but it shows you what I mean): Another way, dont work so well with sprites but it does work is to hide the sprite then do an applied image layers above it, then just unhide your sprite and erased from the applied image layer with a soft brush. In general just make sure your sprite isnt your top layer and there is things above it as well as below it.
