It depends on which version of Vista you purchase (please don't ask me what the differences between them all are). The upgrades seem to be about 50-60% of the cost of the standalone versions.

Answer: more than it's worth just use win server 2003, it's vista minus the eye candy crap with the better kernal and performance. Also isn't as resource hungry. Also, Vista will have ---- driver support for a while. Good luck getting your printer, video card, and motherboard to work optimally until better drivers are out...
For me it's even cheaper =D. I can get it from 2 ways, a friend of mine, which dad will buy it and ofcourse the other way which I won't talk about here.
Ah! But you're forgetting that the reason that most people will buy vista is because of the eye candy... :lol:
Actually, you are quite incorrect. Windows Vista ships with 19000 drivers out of the box and there is another 11000 drivers availble for download on Microsoft Update. So now there is actually more driver support for Vista then any other windows to date. Yes there was poor driver support during beta, RC1, RC2, etc. But now its actually pretty good. The only major driver issue at the moment is Nvidia have failed to provide support for the 8800 on Vista despite being "Vista Ready." Upgrades for Vista will take a while to install. I would suggest grabbing the OEM version if you can as it will be a cheap full version Ultimate Edition. However, you can only upgrade your hardware once. But I believe that you can call up and sort it out if you upgrade Video Cards, RAM, etc. But if it is your motherboard you upgrade after your only free one you will not get it sorted out by Microsoft and you will need to buy a new copy. so, care to explain to me why people are getting lower 3dmark scores in vista? graphicvs drivers still need a fair amount of work. The drivers might exist, but thye're far from polished. the GeForce 8800 series doesn't even have beta drivers for V ista.
Vista runs games the same as windows xp..Ive tryied it and played San Andreas, Doom 3 and GRAW the same as i can in Win Xp.
