48! If North Carolina and South Carolina joined and became just Carolina, and if West Virgina joined with Virgina! But 50 =)
A recent statistic says that 70% of americans do not know this. Saddly, I think you all just proved it. Merged Post: ok, 9/25 voters do not know that the USA has 50 states when it is clearly writen at the bottom of the thread. Thats what...36% based on a sample of 25...Im crying.
the forum did not prove it because some ppl that put in the wrong answer are not from america its the internet ppl are from all over the world..
Americans do so much stupid stuff, not knowing how many states there are is one. We buy bottled water. I bet the French were sitting around one day, like, "Hey man, bet you a fortune that if we take some of this water here, put it into a bottle, an American will buy it!" And we've all seen the warning labels. Like even sometimes when you buy shoes, you get that pack of gel things...It says on it DO NOT EAT THIS. No other country in the world would buy a pair of shoes looking for something to eat. And most people never realize this, but we are the only country whos government has to hide things from its population, because we are to dumb to have posession of information. They tell us a bit about how we're doing with this whole Osama thing...Next thing you know, it's on the news. And they wonder why we can't find him. And aliens...They are here, you all know it. Yet our superiors keep it under wrapps because if anyyone found out...well, I wont go there. And back to the States thing. The USA is the ONLY country that has to put stars on its flag to remind its people how many states there are. Yet still, no one knows. I bet if you counted, you might find an extra one. And the guy sitting in front of his computer right now with a map of the US counting the states is probably American.
