i have allways wondered how long it would take for a full ps2/pc ect game to be made. Would it take a year?
it all depends on how detailed the graphics are how difficult it is to code and how much content is in the game. most sports games take only about a year while adventure games and shooters can take many years
I read an article and for some really popular snowboarding games, it takes about two years and 300 workers.
many companies release bad/good games. and thinking into it, 10's, 100's of people making a game for months and years, and having their rating absolutely slaughtered and what not. But as for making games.. it takes alot of time with alot of people. ofcourse, depending on the types of games too. 2d arcade fighting games obviously wouldn't take as long as 3d adventure games and what not.
It really depends on the type of game they're making. It takes the ArenaNet team, for example, around a year to make the GW chapters, and that's with the game engine already mostly done and they have all the people listed there working for them. However, smaller games would obviously not take as long.
assassins creed has been in developement for 5 years and its still got another year to go before it gets released, id check that game out because it looks amazing, also i think crysis has been in development for about 3 years? to be honest 2 years should be the minimum it takes to develope a game, if it took 1 year itd be bad, and a company could spend 10 years making a game if they wanted, so yeah lol.
wow that quote was unneeded. anyway games like zedla and big name titles take like 2-3 years and other games like sports games take a year
It depends on how they want the game to be and what system they want it on. Also how long the game will be takes a long time to think up a story and mission and ---- like that.
