Basicaly there is only a 4 rules to compatiblity, Mobo+Ram+CPU+GFX basically only certain CPU's go in certain sockets... this is easy it is written on the CPU box and Mobo box Ram slot type.... also easy basically all new hardware is DDR2 though this might not even concern u GFX... the only complicated one...it is complicated because on card can come in differnt variations of slot types... Basically get a mobo with PCI-e that supports DDR2 has a Socket for a Core 2 processor (775 but also check to see if it supports the 1066mhz FSB) and a nVidia GFX card (why not radeon..because i've had several problem cards from them ..the result of choosing the budget option) then u should be fine... In othe words "All to easy" (<-- in warcraft voice)
Yeah, the hardest thing is WHAT to get, once you've got all the compatable parts just think Lego (DON'T CHEW THE RAM!!)
It's pretty simple, I put my first PC together when I was 15. You just gotta buy the right compatible parts and read up the manuals which come with it. I think the hardest part to it was probably fitting the motherboard into the case... seriously.
it's not that hard once you ge the hang of it. i used to think too that it was intimidating but it was fairly easy once you know which goes where.
