Ive posted my build several times, but now i think im pretty much set when i build this in November/December. Though I heard of some problems with 4 GBs of RAM with Vista with it crashing an needing a hotfix, would it effect me installing Vista at all before the hotfix? Im probably not going to bother with SLI because of the LCD TV/Monitor it runs at 1366 x 768 and seeing that the Ultra should set me fine for what im hoping a long time such as a couple of years. One thing im sorta concerned about is the motherboard I picked, seeing it is one of the most overclockable motherboards with high fsbs, that im hearing some problems on xtremesystems about it. Also seeing this is my first computer build, im wondering if this motherboard is not for noobs, etc, and im at the very tip of my budget at exactly 2500 with the Mail in Rebates. Should i knock down the Ultra to a GTX since im running at a lower res to save some money? Thanks

I'd knock down to the GTX and make it an Ultra myself but that's if you're going to OC, looking at the res you plan to play at the Ultra won't be significantly better so thats a good place to save money.
Don't forget the 9800 is due for christmas so 8800 prices should drop

yeah what im hoping im watercooling the ultra and overclock it to like 740 or something like that, im hearing the price will drop to 519.99 by the time 9800s come out, though i may get a 9800 GTS being faster than the ultra

also newegg stopped carrying the ram that i picked so i switched it to some fast Geil 2GB Ultra 1066 RAM, though i heard someone post that it wont work with the DFI motherboard, xlink you want to correct that? also i switched the case to a Silverstone TJ-07 and dropped the Ultra to a GTX

from what I understand, the next gen of nVidia chips are out in november...
though they're basically just a process shrink. think 7800 ->7900 transition

the ultras are largely a waste given their price premium.

    I can't read your image...

if you want to save a buck

    $72 and I'm pretty sure it's micron D9. DDR2-800 4-4-4 1T screems of D9, most RAM is rated for 2t fyi.

as for the board I'm not sure.

I'd swap the pump to a laing DDC or a laing D5
don't pay extra for a raptor X just get a WD1500 raptor, same thing minus the window but $50 cheaper
you can find comparable RAM for 1/3rd the price.
880GTX is likely a better buy

and that's all I cna basically say. RAM and video card "downgrade" would probably result in a negligible performance diference as you'de be overclocking regardless(I assume) and the limits are about the same. if you're a really competative bencher, I'll be blunt, GR is not the palce to ask and you'de likely want to look into getting a good TEC over getting the higher parts anyway...

FYI consider an EVGA 8800GTX and abuse their stepup program to get what looks like will be dubbed the 8900 since the 8900s are out next month.Likely a 2GPU config of die shrunk G80s from my understanding(I've listened cloely to what some people have said it sounds a lot like SLI-ed cards @65nm)

I'd wait for a mobo and vga, possible some ddr3. Add a second 500gig drive anyway.

I looked into that and it would cost more than 1 raptor x and the regular raptor is only 5 bucks cheaper than the x.

Also should I just drop the GPU waterblock to save like $110 and just start add a second loop with a 120.2 later?
