Ok. I am playing PS2 online here is my setup. I have a router inside the house about 100 feet away from the PS2 and the PC. The PC has a wireless internet connection with an adapter to the router. I have a ethernet crossover cable plugged into the PS2 and plugged into the PC. (Local Area connection 4) The wirelss adapter is USB. So then I went to network connections and went to the USB adapter and enable internet sharing for Local Are Connection 4. So what I am doing is playing the PS2 online through the computers internet connection. You can see that here. Right now I am online with the PS2 as Local Area Connection 4 is connected. So I connect and I am great. I can browse the internet and play PS2 at the same time. But this only usually works for about 20 minutes. I lag out of a game on the PS2 and the PC's internet does not work. So I disconnect the cable from the PC. (The one that comes from the PS2) The boom then internet works again on the PC. Then I plug back in the cable from the PS2 and then both work for 20 minutes then the same thing happens again. I lag out internet shuts off and then I unplug cable and it works again. The I plug PS2 cable back in and it works. Same thing keeps happening over and over. I can only play PS2 online at best for a maximum of 30 minutes as the PS2 needs an internet connection to play. And ideas why it does this or how to fix it? (note that I cannot get a direct connection to the router)
buy a 4 port wireless gateway, that will give it a direct connection to the ps2 and/or your computer, then it shoots that signal to your wireless route that is 100 meters away, then that should stop. edit: why did you create a new thread?
I can't. My mom took online gaming away a long time ago and she does not know I figured out how to connect it. She can't know either so I can't buy anything. I am lucky I got this far. So I just need to resolve this. Edit: the other thread was for getting connected but I figured that out myself
you could have said that you found a way on the other post, but watever.. it's like trying to share dial-up on two computers, sure, it works, but it cuts you off every once in awhile. to resolve this, i think the only way you can play for more than 30 minutes is to get a wireless gateway or a PS2 wireless device. if you have enough money to get one, ask a trusted friend to buy it for you, then pay him back. then you can hide the wireless gateway somewhere so she wont notice..
could this be a problem? A USB network adapter cannot support the bandwith of both the PS2 and the pc's internet?
