im trying to make a forum sig but i am stuck on how to do one thing.

i hav a render of a game char from somewhere and i would like to put a blue glow around him, kind of like a aura.

does anyone know how i could do this simply without going around the whole image brushing it?

    thanks in advanced,

ps i dont know where this should go really, sorry if its in wrong place!
pps the background of the sig is plain white for now

So its a cutout?Simple, just double-click on the layer in the layers palette and the "Blending Options" should come up, check mark "Outer Glow" and change the light yellow color to something you like. For best results you should play with all the settings under "Outer Glow".

ok, i do mean similar to this appart from i would like a gap between the render and the glow like a little space between them

because the render is complex, if there isnt space between it then it looks like the glow is part of the render.

i guess kind of like a "stroke" away from the render, thanks for your help so far

Ctrl click on your render layer and make a new layer above it. Make the selection a few pixels bigger with selection --> edit --> expand or something like that. Then fill (shift F5) it with black. After that put the fill of the layer to 0% and add your outer glow
