I have recently reformatted my hard drive and installed Windows XP SP2 again, and I went to download and install Firefox right after I had finished with drivers and updates. For some reason, when I installed it and ran it, the address displayed humongous text, as well as a red background where it would normally be gray. Any suggestions?

    Try installing it again.

o_O damn. yeah, try reinstalling. if that doesn't work, then i think there is an option in firefox to change fonts. not sure if its just for the page, or if you can change the address bar. worst comes to worst, find a new firefox theme from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/browse/type:2

Never seen this before, and if you didn't do anything which may cause this, the only thing that's left is indeed reinstalling.
