i found these really good sprite sheets, but the background is a bright purple, so when i try to use them in a sig, the purple background always comes up

i tried using the paint bucket to make the purple black so that it doesnt show up when i set the mode to screen, but when a tut requires that i use something like soft light or multiply, the black comes back - is there any way i can fix this without rendering the sprite? (cause i really suck at rendering)

    Two things you can do:

    1. Take the lasso tool and outline the sprite then go to select>inverse and make a new layer and go to edit>fill>black.

    2. The part on the tut don't do exactly what it says. Where it says soft light or multiply use a blend mode that works for you.

    Hopefully I helped.

Well... seeing as you can change the background color with paint bucket, it must be a solid color. Get your Magic Eraser, set tolerance to 1 and click once on background. Or get your Magic Wand, set tolerance to 1, click on background and press delete.

just use the Magic Wand with a tolerance of 1

if its a non-purple sprite just use the magic eraser to erase the purple background. try the magic eraser on the bg first, if it cleanly wipes the bg and leaves the sprite alone, great. otherwise, do like they said.
