yeah 7800GT is a good card. I recommend a factory overclocked one from XFX o something like that. Heres the DFI NF4 Ultra-D to SLI-D mod - http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread...00&page=1&pp=15
Computer Specs AMD x2 +4200 - or possibly a +4400 2 x 1gb ram raptor 74gb harddrive 19in pure color monitor DFI lanparty mother board with sli, possible might get a asus premium instead Gforce 7800GT video card lex case featured in maximum pc as one of the best cases on the market. These are the specs as of now, I've read alot and learned alot thanks for the help guys. I recently took apart my computer, all the way to the frame, and put it all back together again to make sure I could do it, and as you can see it works fine, it took me about 3hours to label, take apart, and then put it back together again. Thanks difuzion for your help via pm, I'll probably catch you on aim some time, and all of you guys can expect +2 rep when I get this account to 175 post :]
Do not bother getting an DFI SLI-D or ASUS Premium as they will be a waste of money because you are getting the same features with the Ultra D, by flicking of some epoxy and drawing a line with a pencil. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16813136152 http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread...00&page=1&pp=15 What PSU are you getting?
That's the board I'll probably get, I don't even know if I'll run sli or not. Don't really have the money for two cards. As for processor I'm getting the. AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ Manchester 1GHz FSB Socket 939 Dual Core Don't have the money to get the +4400 toledo so I'll just go for that.
I can't imagine really fully using the full power of two 7800 GTs anyway... unless you're doing like... full-blown computer animation. That's an insane amount of graphical processing power.
I won't run sli out of the box, but I'm hopeing that later on, when things get more advanced atleast I have the option to upgrade to sli.
if you cannot get the 4400 or 4800+(as if...), then you might as well go for the 3800 and plan on upgrading in two years, save your self some cash too... that would be my plan except I am waiting 6 months for the 65mn manufacturing process to be fully out when intel and AMD release new procs and new mobos.
To Start with dont go with company built ie DELL XPS systems piles of balls and not worth the money making yourself requires component knowledge ie Motherboard sockets 939 fits a processor with 939 pins Go for the AMD X2 Cores & Ill say you wont really need 2 7800GTX most people say get those but i think whats the point I built one recently: AMD 64 3500 2.4GHZ << Good at both playing games and other stuff 1GB Corsair DDR RAM <<< go for corsair, kingston or OCZ - DDR expecially dont go for SDRAM (DDR=Double Data Rate) 160GB SATA HardDrive << Go for SATA and not ATA - SATA more faster data transfers and rate ASUS A8N-SLI << Either the ASUS or the MSI would do exremely good and its SLI support as well Nvidia GB 6600GT << I was tight on money but for performance this is a wicked card - Running every game i got atm including BF2 ThermalTake Soprano w/ Side window inc. 3 x Fans << good cooling methods and good case << u need a good case for ventilation and cooling the overall temperature (mine stays at around 29 degrees MAX sometimes 32 when running games) ThermalTake Golden Orb II - Very quiet CPU fan very easy to install and cools the CPU quite good - Sensor based when integrated with mobo
