First I would like you all to understand that I know abosolutely nothing about computers, how to build etc. The extent of my knowledge is left click start>loading>all programs>photoshop So I need to build a graphicly entense computer, I would like to be able to play all of the latest games, and I need to be able to run big programs, I need to be able to multitask to my hearts content and be able to save large image and video files. Is there something that you guys can recommend? What do you use? I'm looking to stay under 2grand. I was looking at dell *gasp* and they have a nince looking xps, with a D processor, and 2gigs of ram, along with a 250gig hd and a 19in flatty. For around 1,400? Is that a good deal? I also looked on newegg, but I had no idea where to start, I had a really hard time finding out which processors were compatable with which cases etc. What proc do you guys recommend? processor: AMD 4000 X2 or higher Memory: Go for 2GB gfx card: best one is the 7800gtx, if you dont get that one, since its 500 bucks, go for a 6800gtx... I'd reccomend a Western Digital Raptor 37 or 74 GB hard drive, and a 250-300 gb backup drive. You can get a 37 GB Raptor for about $140 and a 300 GB HD for about $90 at tigerdirect.com. And Look into getting a big power supply, I'd reccomend 500W, if your going for a high-end gaming rig. I'd also reccomend picking up some Mushkin PC3200 DDR RAM, a 1 Gig stick is about $85 at TD. a couple of those should be able to handle pretty much whatever you throw at it.
If I built my computer at newegg I was thinking. -full tower -260gig hd -2-3 gigs of ram -pentium d processor at 3.0 -big power supply -19in flatty -and windows xp pro The only problem is if I build it myself I would have to put it together, and I would have to install the operating system which I have no idea how to do. get amd. Its better alround now especially with the dual cores as they beat everything an intel has to offer. If you dont know how to install an operating system I am afraid that you shouldnt even bother building a pc.
