Ok, when I try to start CS (1.6) i get to the screen where those two ugly guys comes up, no buttons comes up (new game, servers etc. etc.)! Everything just freezes. anyone know what to do? Creds + 1 sig for the one who can answer, lol
i un/re-installed it.. still doesnt work. and messing with the maps and so isnt a smart thing to do...
make sure that any programs like zone alarm have allowed it to access the net, any firewalls, if that doesnt work, i dont know, i had that problem when i got source, and the firewall was the problem.. i hope that helps

Firewall may be the problem, or you need a new direct X, you might even need to download the latest graphics driver, sometimes the graphics driver screw games up like when I first tried playing doom3 after reformatting my com.
Manually enter the path of your halflife exe into your firewall to allow it access. After you do that you should have your menu without it freezing. For some reason with 1.6 it wont ask you like your firewall might usually to allow this program access to the internet. You have to enter it manually.
