Yo well i just thought id get a bit of discussion going, i wanna know which u prefer:

    Heavy Metal/rock/industrial/deathmetal/etc... VS Rap/Hip-hop/RnB/so on...

Personally im a metal fan. Been and seen Korn and Disturbed live, and listen to it religously. I probably would be dead, or in jail now if i didnt have my heavy music. Its just great music to listen to when ur stressed, rather than taking some poor saps head of the next time they look at u funny...

I have an allergy to rapcrap tbh. I find it way too over commercialised, over heavily laden with bass and sound effects, with crap singing to go with it. And i mean...who really wants to hear someone boasting about who they shot today, and whos girl slept with who, and how much more money they are making than us...

    Anyway...thoughts? :P

(try not to get into flaming please this is meant in a lighthearted fashion)

Yeah, I personally prefer rock. Metal is great for getting me pumped whenever I lift or do anything physical, and acoustic calms me down. Rap gets me somewhat pumped up, but none of it really calms me down. Plus I think rap is all about being a gangster now and I think this is stupid. It was great with like Tupac, but 50Cent and all them, I think it's kinda stupid. I dunno, I'm not as against it as some metalheads, but I still really prefer rock.

Why start these topics..Everyone whos going to say they don't like rap only listened to stupid people like 50 cent, or some other person who only raps about money, girls, etc. But w/e..I'd rather listen to rap/hip hop and r&b. I'd rather listen to metaphors and people boasting than some weird dude screaming his lungs out.

I'm a metal fan. I use to listen to rap but now I barely listen to it. I don't care for their lyrics. My favorite band is Children of Bodom. I also love Nightwish. I've been to a Children of Bodom concert in Chicago, Trivium and Devildriver opened up for them.

Neither, lets have something with a true melody line ftw :P

I mean don't get me wrong, old skool rock is quite good, bands like Deep Purple and even some AC~DC stuff is alright, and I love a lot of Meatloaf and some less traditional rock like Flogging Molly, but give me the likes of Muse or Radiohead, Coldplay or Killers etc. over them anyday (except Flogging Molly...gotta love the irish :P)
As for rap I don't understand the appeal. Occasionally a rap song will come out (probably more R&B tbh) that I quite like, but 90% of it is identical to me lol, and in a bad way :P

I don't really care for neither, but if I were to choose. I would say Rap/Hip-Hop/R&B. I would rather hear about girls, shooting, money, and some of the rappers problem instead of.

    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!HHHHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLYEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!!!ASHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

So, yeah in conclusion. I would rather hear some what of a melody other than random screaming thear lungs to death.
