Do you have 2 computers and dont want to spend the money for a hardware KVM? I have a solution for you no cables needed. Synergy Summary: Introduction synergy: [noun] a mutually advantageous conjunction of distinct elements Synergy lets you easily share a single mouse and keyboard between multiple computers with different operating systems, each with its own display, without special hardware. It's intended for users with multiple computers on their desk since each system uses its own monitor(s). Redirecting the mouse and keyboard is as simple as moving the mouse off the edge of your screen. Synergy also merges the clipboards of all the systems into one, allowing cut-and-paste between systems. Furthermore, it synchronizes screen savers so they all start and stop together and, if screen locking is enabled, only one screen requires a password to unlock them all. Learn more about how it works. Synergy is open source and released under the GNU Public License (GPL). System Requirements * Microsoft Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Me (the Windows 95 family) * Microsoft Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP (the Windows NT family) * Mac OS X 10.2 or higher * Unix o X Windows version 11 revision 4 or up o XTEST extension (use "xdpyinfo | grep XTEST" to check for XTEST) All systems must support TCP/IP networking. "Unix" includes Linux, Solaris, Irix and other variants. Synergy has only been extensively tested on Linux and may not work completely or at all on other versions of Unix. Patches are welcome (including patches that package binaries) at the patches page. The Mac OS X port is incomplete. It does not synchronize the screen saver, only text clipboard data works (i.e. HTML and bitmap data do not work), non-US English keyboards are untested and probably don't work, and there may be problems with mouse pointer and mouse wheel acceleration. Other problems should be filed as bugs.
How is that possible? sounds like a nice prog, but how can it do that with no mouse present in the other comp? and no cables? how?
you have to be running the software on both computers. They have to be one same network. You configure one as server and the others as clients. Took me about 15 minutes to set it up but I am using it right now. 2 machines and 1 KB and mouse, no cables between them.
Should have put this up earlier . I could have used this instead of all these cables running inbetween the comps.
Whats the need is wha i want to know... Like if i fnd a reason to use it then yea. Otherwise what's the main reason to use 2 pcs at the same time with one keyboard and mouse....! Now if its for problems or even fixing the pc thats just lazy if u cant walk to your other pc and sit down to fix it.
I think this is used for regular computing, not repairing. Yet, you could easily get a simple mouse and keyboard for cheap....
Yes you can, but I work on multiple machines throughout the day and get tired of using cables and KVM's. I now use 1 keyboard and mouse to control all three machines. It is not a tool for everyone, just certain few who use multiple machines on a regular basis. Figured they would like it.
is there any lag on things such as games because i know they have mouses with 2000 dpi and stuff like that and i figure it would make it lag a slight bit so mouses like that would be pointless light can only travel so fast atleast for very good gamers
Sounds good, never heard of this even so I wanna try it out, even though I will most likely never have the oppurtunity to. Mhm, will refer someone to this thread if anyone I know has the same problem.
