North America is a continent. Canada is in the continental North America, so in turn, yes it's part of North America. Just like all of the others he listed, to the bottom of Central America.

I doubt that there are 48% of Americans who don't know that Canada is part of North America. It's common sense and one of the things you learn in like first or second grade.

I was watching some show about some guy going to Harvard and asking Americans about Canada.

Reporter Guy: How do you feel about the seel hunt going on in Saskatchewan?
Harvard Student: I think it's absolutely outrageous that they would do that.
    Reporter Guy: Indeed.

Seels in Saskatchewan? There is a few lakes there. Ya'll are dumb.

Reporter Guy: How do you feel about Canada having only 11 states
Harvard Student: I think it's weird, to think they have only 11 states, jeez.
    Reporter Guy: Indeed
6 Year Old Kid: Canada has Provinces, not States!
Reporter Guy: You'll go far in life.

I think a lot of Americans don't know their geography but 48%? Seems a bit high.
