Hard Drive Issues

    resently one of my cables keeps popping out of my hard drive , it does it randomly and then i get a message that reads a little something like this ...

    Hard Disk Error Occured
    Press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart

    all i need to do is find a way to make the cabke not come lose from the hard drive .. anybody got any ideas ? :blink:

    ducktape? glue? just something to keep it in.

    Whats the cable like or called :)

    IDE or SATA cable
    The powercable etc :)

    if the 'cable' is too short, get a new and longer one.

    i would just use tape not glue because then it could probaly mess it up.

    hm..

    Try and untangle the cables - Thats one way - SOme wires might be getting caught up with others therefore pulling it :)

    How on earth do you have cables just 'popping out'? Those things should fit relativly snugly...

    my point exactly. unless he is using ancient cables, which were not that long back then...

    Well unless ancient mobo then ancient cables that fit loosely :)

    New mobos have like slots and fits in with a 'click' on mine it did anyways :D

    or it or the hdd may be worn out, so it fits loosely now instead of snug.

    worn out? how many times could be possibly pull out this cord before this started happening?

    could be an old cable that he used in several computers...

    One possibility could be a pin broken :) Extreme case

    or the socket is damaged or the cable slots are loose fitting :)
