11 June 2009 -- On the basis of available evidence and expert assessments of the evidence, the scientific criteria for an influenza pandemic have been met. The Director-General of WHO has therefore decided to raise the level of influenza pandemic alert from phase 5 to phase 6.

The projected date for a vaccine is around the end of the year, early 2010.

Yup or the fact that over 1000 cases were reported last week in Australia and a second wave of the flu is expected to hit soon.

Oh dear god, 1,000 cases? That's almost enough people for me to start caring. /sarcasm

Honestly, I love it when people get worked up over stupid shit. Cases are all over, they are treated and already cured, very few people have died from the swine flu (and even then, I would doubt that was the only existing medical condition). Think about the amount of people contracting aids on a daily basis in 1 country alone. Think about the amount of people who are dying from household chemical exposure, vehicular accidents, etc.

This so-called 'epidemic' is hardly a blip on the radar compared to other causes which have been occuring for decades. As said above, this is entirely another 'population check' to keep people in line and re-address the issue making people scared, traditional tactic.

    Oof?
This is so blown out of proportion it's unreal.
Here in the UK, the, amount of people who are worried about this is surreal.

It's not dangerous, sure, it's going to ------ over some people in poorer countries who can't afford sufficient medical care but really, on a global scale, this is barely anything. It being a 'Pandemic' is irrelevant in terms of damage it will cause and is merely a reference to spread of the flu.

To sum up, who the ------ cares.

If I get swine flu I'm purposefully spreading it.
