There is a common 9 letter word in the English dictionary. Each time you remove a letter from it, it makes another common English word, from 9 letters all the way down to 1 letter. What is the word?

Here's a quick hint. One of the words is in thist list:

Of three men, one man always tells the truth, one always tells lies, and one answers yes or no randomly. Each man knows which man is who. You may ask three yes/no question to determine who is who. If you ask the same question to more than one person you must count it as question used for each person whom you ask. What three questions should you ask?

Yes it is. I figured since many riddles require some logic, that I might as well put up some logic problems :) . Which was like yours ;) .

The riddle you're thinking of, only has 2 people, not 3.

You are stranded on an island of two nations. One nation of liars who always lie, and one nation of truth tellers, who always tell the truth. You come to a fork in the road, and there is a man there. You want to get to the nation of truth-tellers, as you don't want to worry about deceit. You may ask one question to get to the nation of truth-tellers. What is that question?
