i agree with you ombre, but to a certain extent every1 follows trends.

if there is something you like on 1 tag, you will try to replicate it into yours somehow. but following tutorials/PSD's to the letter is the worst thing you can do. you are copying things from the 'big names' on here nd the high rated artists and it ----, cos theres no originality to your work.

IMO its ok to read through tuts nd PSD's to learn new techniques but not to copy the whole thing (stock, filters, adj layers etc) thats where the 'copycat' comes in

i admit that i have followed tutorials nd trends (because i liked what i was lookin at not cos it was --- etc) but i never followed it to the letter, i always changed the stock, adj layers etc to get a different result but i dont always leave it as ''ooo i finished the tut, lets ad some text nd thats it'' but i never, if i think my result needs more workill work on it and also i will have to do something that makes it my own.

in my current tag, i followed part of a tut, nd the result that i got from it was bullox, so i carried on makin, adding in my own techniques nd my style on it, nd i got what i am wearin now, which i really like

but if i was to post this up for rating (i think i did) and people will allways say ooo i dont like it, this is wrong etc but if a big named artist posted it then it would be praised.

bein a --- on this site is cool, but most of them have a huge ammount of creds from sellin their ---- because they were rated --- on NSL.

also what i have noticed is there is a guy on here (not usin any names) but i have seen various tutorials sold on his stuff and to me they all looked the same (with the same style, techniques etc) and they are gettin alot of buyers cos of the name.

I support originality, and not named artists

if you are ---, good for you........now STFU!!!

sorry i dont agree... i think most people including myself use their own renders and IF you use lines bubbles etc etc correctly it can help the signatures shape and add charachter to the sig... i agree however that adding them for the sake of adding them is rather pointless as you sometimes see scanlines boxes bubbles whatever randomly thrown in and it does not help the tag atall.

I'm new here so I don't have a personal style yet. I am about to try out some C4D and see how it works.

I totally agree with you 100%.

It depends who you make sigs for. Yourself (1/61,476) or others
    (61,475/61,476)
And trends are everywhere, not just in making graphics.

The thing is that..Gr is mainly a renders forum, hence the name.."GameRenders". So, some of the sigs in the showcase are pretty damn good seeing as how this forum is supposed to revolve around renders.

    i whore trends O_O

    w00t!

for starters who have not mastered/ got the hang of most of the tools in photoshop/c4d etc... they follow a trend.

in following this trend, the trend becomes whored though it still helps the starters out there. So trend whoring may seem bad / good depends on how one looks at it. ^_^

when one masters/get the hang of some techniques and such then the only thing that they need to overcome is themselves, that is where one's creativity comes in. ^_^

so IMO anyone who calls another one a trend whore etc... and used to trend whore before is a hypocrite in my eyes. ^_^
