See, people who give back aren't credit-whores. They give back what they make, in this case, you, give people lessons, give out cheap LR tags and various other items.
As for people who hold competitions, you aren't credit whores either. They give out their credits for services, sometimes for more then one people.
My definition of a credit whore is a person who lets dust collect on their pixels, a person who comes here just to make money. This site was made to give free resources, the credits are just a bonus, thats what people have realize. Would you have been able to learn photoshop when you didn't know what to do with it? Would you be making your effect renders when you can't figure out how to make mats? Would you really spend $5 on every bit of information you can learn?
I'm sure I wouldn't, not quite sure about you. Thats why I'm thankful towards all free tutorials, not just the ones on GR but the ones on all sites.

I figured out how to make mine own c4d effect mats, I knew it was a banji mat then I just experimented. I figured out how to make effects renders, like my Computer teachers says "the best way to learn a program is through experimenting"

On a side on topic, Valence if you notice no one has credits, the people that do have credits are the people that know photoshop and dont need to buy tags.

And I know you guys hate all these people selling tags for like 1.5k-2k, but is like my mom says "the best things arent the free things." Well I will say honestly I would spend 2k for some random splatter brushes, textures in a sigs, with a render. I men seriously wtf, Back in Nov.-Dec. I bought sigs because I actually like the outcome, and I posted them in the prem section of a forums

I used random tutorials to learn techniques. The more advanced stuff would have to be paid for, thats how I saw paid tutorials and auctions.

When i was starting out, i didnt have GFX resources. I had gimp, and my own wit. Its funny to see how much the economy depends on free things now, instead of paying a few dollars to further their hobby. And for those who say learning should be free, you really should look into life after high school. If you go to college, they dont give you free learning. Your shelling out tons of cash for that.

Mods here pointed out the fact that learning should be free, but it never has and never will be.

this post makes me want to hug myself.

listen up kids. the admins here have a primary force to look after. the community. your creds and getting hyper-inflated prices by throwing around overhyped names and artificial stratifications of skills do NOT come ahead of the community.

so some of y'all learnt on your own? grrrrrreat. but not everyone is like that. there are people who need teaching aids. just because you didnt use them is no reason to deny it to other people. you might as well ban computers since our grandparents didnt have them.
so dont paint everyone with your brush. pun most certainly intended.
    '
but y'all are right. learning resources are not free. but GR has moved from being a great free resource to a complete non-resource. forget paid resources, it reached the point where NOTHING but tag-trading was going on.

im sure there are plenty of sites left whcih are rude to new members and will welcome your auctions.

    /hungoveraftercorporatedinnerrant.

    sorry.

Did you ever stop to think that people are tired of paying so much for signatures? Prices are not set it stone: i use to pick up some of the best signatures at the time for under 500 credits a piece. Just because you can't suddenly sell them for thousands anymore doesn't mean they won't sell. Try lowering prices, or just realize the fact you're not the flavor of the month anymore.

Free tutorials, paid tutorials. If you didn't have enough credits to purchase advanced stuff, you'd go to the free tutorials, and worked with whatever was there. What was the problem in that? Not that I like tags being sold for 2k(which is stupid), but I'm not going to sell something I made for 100 credits either, unless it's for learning rights.

This isn't going to turn into a discussion on why we choose to remove paid tutorials.

If learning is not free, how come deviantArt is so successful? One of the largest graphical resource sites, and free tutorials hasn't harmed them any. In order to grow more, and allow for other activites - which has already been explained, we removed paid tutorials. Don't like it, get off the website.

^^ i would have to agree wit Andrew on that.

Yes mr 90k+ creds is saying somethin...i donate and all that good stuff too, peeps here know my history.

creds is not the issue, its the way people are. also its betta to have free tuts are that good, great,"Advance", average, basic than buyin crappy wannabe "advance" tuts.
also the markets are slow b/c wats there to buy when everyone is "advance" lol..

I agree with the paid tutorials being taken out, most threads say please post outcomes if used, thats because the maker wants to see if their work was WORTH IT for the people who followed it, so why not be free?...
As for the credit inflation? Thats just the way the market is. If you REALLY like someone's tags, PM them about it. I did it with EBK and got some FR tags for a STEAL and have learned tons for them, even though I had to pay for them, it wasnt a huge deal in the long run!

i find it good that the prices are going down that means us people who arent that good (basically down to opinions but ..) will finally be able to buy some things
i mean im surely not going to waste 10$ on a tiny canvas that is half the size of my hand
i prefer keeping that and going out to town with my mates and buying a few drinks
Lennox - that means you used to get 10$ for 30 min on photoshop
i have to work at my job for an hour to get half of that
consider yourself lucky that you could sell for so much earlier
and now your still getting 2$ for 30 min on the computer
ok its cool having lots of money but let me tell you this
how many real friends do you have on this forum ? you dont have many because you scrape every possible credit out of the people on this forum

im gonna put it like this. you have to have the good with the bad but all gr staff wants is the good the world doesnt spin around just by the good.

i use to be very active at gr. i would coment on sigs and stuff. but i mostly came here to buy and sell tags im a credit hungry person that would post everywhere and i dont use tuts often, i normaly would only use the few tuts THAT WERE SOLD ,because THEY ARE THE GOOD ONES. now all we have is crappy tuts thats what free tuts was to start TUTS NO ONE WOULD BUY. face it everyone on this site has been credit hungry at one point. i use to make alot of credits by selling my tuts but i sold them cheap to help people without having them pay alot but still pay alittle to keep me going ,but now that we have this stupid rules and thats my oppion.

i want to comment on this you keep saying how people sell tags and sigs for that much i never sold anything for 2000 some over 1000 but never tags or sigs i sold tuts(with the tag) templates/skins or large pieces

I have noticed this also but as iPro has pointed out already it is the guys who come to Gamerenders to make a profit on their work who has ruined this. Not just people from NSL but others from different sites also. I have also noticed that some guys who have frequented on Gamerenders for a long time have also begun to do this.

I am all for giving back to the community but as i have stated already plenty of times, you hardly get noticed for doing this anymore. The people who are noticed nowadays are the '---' signature makers who can sell their work for x amount of credits/$s (in some cases). Why? I do not know, their not giving anything back to the community YET they are more known than most of the people who actually do give back to the community.

It is guys who expect a lot more credits for their pieces who have taken the auction room down, if they would sell their artwork cheaper than what they are now i am sure plenty of other people would be willing to bid on their things but i truly can not see that happening to be honest. I myself will not pay '2k' for a signature, no matter how well known the artist may be, my reasons for this are simple.

~ I give almost everything i buy away. (Whether it be LR or FR).
~ I think 2k credits for one signature is rediculous.
~ I could have bought a lot more things for the community with those 2k credits.
~ I'm all for quantity not quality. (It doesn't have to be an awesome piece to be appreciated for by the community. The '---' guys may not thank me for it but i am more for helping the NEW guys so either way i still get a lot of thanks for posting the things i have bought on here).

A business has their good times and their bad times, there is absolutely nothing we can do about that, if you just give it some time i am sure that it will pick itself back up eventually. In the mean time why don't some of you guys actually help the community out, go and post your work for the community to learn from, get your names out there for helping and being nice rather than for being a credit hungry sod.

I see plenty of 'advanced' tutorials posted on here, why does everything have to be based on ratings these days? Does it really matter if the tutorial is a beginner, advanced or '---'? Aslong as people can LEARN from the tutorials posted on here then i can't really see the problem here. I actually like the new 'no selling tutorials' rule, yes i had ONE topic with about 6 tutorials in it but that was so i could gain more credits to buy more things for the community.

How has this new rule made the auction room less active? I don't think it has to be honest. Another reason for liking this rule for me is because now, people can actually see who was here to make a profit and who was here to actually help the community and for this reason alone is good enough for me to love the rule.

Is it that much of a big deal for you to actually be nice for once and post some of these tutorials? Why does most things with you have to be about making a profit? Isn't getting your name out there for your kindness enough for you?

Thank you for that sweetie but i wouldn't personally call you a credit whore either, i have seen you personally post a lot of resources, even before i opened my competition. I have also seen you make your own competitions and buy/give quite a lot of things out also. :)

There are plenty of members on Gamerenders that do not get recognized for their kindness or are not seen helping the community because it is done 'behind the scenes' so to speak. I am probably more known for doing this because i do all of it publicly but there are people like Dementia who has been helping out a lot 'behind the scenes'.

I totally agree with you ;)

Im not talking about my sigs that I have guys. I know im not the best sig designer here, I long since quit doing that.

I do have a real job too, but some side cash is great since i pay for everything except food, and shelter.

90% of you also want to make credits, your just not saying it here. Yes I have given out free tuts, yes I have given out free PSD's (theres a pack of 30 i posted several months back somewhere in the resource section)
