guys i have a 6800GS and i feel like when direct X 10 comes out my card will be outdated... what should i do? i dont want to spend another 250 on a card.... if its not gonna be outdated for at least 2 years then ill get sli with dual 6800GS but if it is ill get single pci-e and go with the flow... i rlly dont want to be spending this much money though lol. so my question is, when will my card be outdated and is direct X 10 gonna work with my current card?
Dont bother going SLI. Your card wont be outdated for a while as direct x 10 wont be in every game immediately. Also have you heard Vista got delayed until Janurary so DX10 will also be delayed I assume.
oh ok thanks guys, and im gonna get an X16 sli board so u can enable the sli on X16 pci-e instead of X8 bandwidth...
lol ati are for performance but nothing beats the nvidia cards. the most pixel piplies ati was able to activate were 16 and nvidia 24... lol and the clocks are better on nvidias card mostly too.
that's like going from dropping a a grain of sand into cannal to dropping it into the grand canyon. Bandwidth is not an issue. The difference is almost non existent and as is it currently, AGP 8x cards SLIGHTLY outperform the same cards in PCI-e. if I had a dual slot motheroard and didn't plan on reusing a card, I would most definately go AGP. think about it in comparison of using DDR2 as compared to DDR on an athlon, diference doesn't help at all. FYI STpl, ATI has significantly higher clock to accomadae and performance wise the two companies are neck to neck. ATi has crossfire which is a better technology, while nVidia has slightly more powerful cards.
i thought sli amd corssifre almost doubles ur fps lol? well ill go with this mobo then.... : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16813127196 i hear great things bout it and has tons of features
only at really high screen resolutions, in general one 7900gt is better than two 6800gts in Sli. if you can hold off, it really is best if you just stay with what you have right now.
the mobo or the gfx card? i got this gfx card about 2 months ago on a one day clearance sale, i had an X500 ATI but for $200.00 i got a PNY 6800 GS, overclocked to 470 & 1100.... and my mobo is a peice of ----, msi something lol its micro ATX and its from an emachines..... i want to get the best mobo i can buy.... help?
they've been 180 standard price on newegg for a while. also compare.contrast STPL, if you're just doing it for the bus interface think again http://www.tcmagazine.info/articles.php?ac...age=1&pagenum=1
Why waste so much money. bigger e-penis? grab a lanparty ultra-d it can be made an SLI board easily. There is no point in going sli at this stage AT ALL. Anyway for SLI to work you have to get the exact same gfx card, same model number and bios version.
dide h mention that after the cost of a new motherboard and anew cardsm it would be cheaper and better just to get a single 7800GS seriously I don't get this, do you really need to play on max every single day for everygame?I only plan to upgrade cards once ever 2-4 years, if you always upgraded you'de go bankrupt, there is no end in site as of this moment for computing.
omg, the reason im getting a new motherboard is so i can overclock my cpu and get a higher FSB, better net connection.... etc. the mobo i have right now blows... and im not getting sli. only if i am forced to. EDIT: why is everyone always refering to the 7800GS, my clocks are practically the same as them... but they have like 8 more pixel pipelines thats it. my comp gets the same fps as them too....
