It has been 11 days since I last had a cigarette. Quitting smoking is the hardest thing I've had to do since my high school college preparation math exam.

If anyone has any advice or suggestions about quitting smoking, or if they have something relevant to share that may be of use, I'd love to discuss it :)

Well, stopping immediately will actually be bad for you because your body is used to your smoking. Stopping gradually will be easier.

    Ex.
    day 1 - 5 sticks
    day 2 - 4 sticks
    day 3 - 3 sticks

and so on... but since you've stopped already. When you get the urge to smoke just replace it with some thing else, like bubblegum.

My aunt quit but she came back in because she gained like 5 pounds because instead of smoking she ate. (Kinda funny eh?)

Try to find a sugarfree candy or gum (like stride, orbit, etc) that you love. Or just a regular candy. And dont think about that you quit, think of it as you never smoked.

Good for you. I spoke to my parents (who both used to smoke, but both quit) and they said all they used was their will. I think you can manage. I know it'll be hard, but think of how much better your life will be in the end. You'll probably be able to save a ton of money, you'll feel a lot better, and you'll be a stronger person for it. Good luck.

    sesame seeds :)

    ya know lol

i smoke and i found i cut my smoking in half as soon as i went to to tobacco
the thought of having to roll ya cig b4 ya smoke it is just annoying so you tend to do it less lol

or another way if you still have the odd one is to

take ya pack of 20 on day 1 go about ya day as usual have a cig like ya do

then on day 2 take ya pack of 20 take one cig out so its 19 carry on like ya do

then day 3 take ya 20 pack take two cigs out carry on like ya do

day 4 take ya 20 pack take 3 cigs out carry on like ya do

    etc etc etc

till ya down to about 1 or 2 cigs a day then just quit

but ..... but but but never
tell any of your friends / work mates you are quitting

cos you know why no one noticed when you dont have a cig but as soon as you spark one up people will be up ya ass like i thought you were quitting blah blah :)

I actually used this system when I quit, almost two weeks ago now. The problem is, I planned it poorly. I still have an unopened pack of du maurier's in my filing cabinet (yes, a weird place to store them, I know).

I have a high metabolism so I can lose weight fine - I'm not giving up my sugar packed gum..!

Thanks to everyone who posted :) Hugs and cookies for you all.

lollipops and gum will save you. youre making the right decision, but really dont give up. even if you chew 5 packs of gum a day, it will save you so much money, and increase your lifespan. stick with it.

    good luck
