Its been 2 years since I built my current system, and now its rediculously out of date. I went on the search for a prebuilt system because I really can't be bother to build again. I've pretty much settled on a CyberPower Lan PC because my parents are divorced so I live at 2 different houses. So I came to customising it on the site and then I got stuck on the graphics card. I am quite a big gamer so I need one that isn't going to go out of date quickly, but also I have a restricted budget of about £600. So can somebody please suggest a good nVidia card, bearing in mind games are going DX10 now.
only good nVidia card capable of DX10 would be the 8800GTS(and above). assuming you're ripped off by 20%(vs US) since you're UK... £60 c2d e4400(if you're an OCer)(Ax2 5200+ if not) £60 RAM £50 motherboard £160 8800GTS 320mb £20-40 Case £50 PSU £50 harddrive £20 DVD burner ~£480 + VAT if the 8800GTS is truly out of your budget, so is nVidia. x1950pro would be the way to go and then the x1650XT(or GT) much cheaper than that on cards is "ehh" the above is a rough guideline I'd guess. roughly based off of DIY pricing. jsut putting that out so you knwo what you can get.
XFX 8600 GT could always be a option, its cheap and fast. The XXX version includes a game I think.. and accessories. Keep in mind that the RAM is most important.
no. the 8600s are basically a failure as far as performance goes. the old 7900s were faster and had mroe overclocking headroom too. On top of that, the 1950pro is better in most thigns than the GT too. plus the 7900s and x1950s cost less.
