Interesting thread...I was actually thinking about this as well....Though everything has been said I'd just like to say:

I agree...that taking/making renders and stocks (despite where they're from) is ripping...I posted up a Samus Tag awhile back on a different site and was accused of ripping from D.A. (even though it was rendered and posted in a different forum)...Though I can morally say I wouldn't take things from D.A and use them as my own without permission on purpose, and needless to say I took it down. But I find it odd because if you think about it we're all doing the same thing anyways, but don't consider it ripping...

To everyone that makes tags or sigs...we all would define ripping as taking a image without permission from the artists....that should apply even from the artists from companies...they're still artists that designed those images. Sure they're paid by companies, and I can understand if people on D.A. can't afford to let people do this sorta stuff, though we still have to look at it from how we look at 'ripping.'

To sum it up...I'm not on one side...I'm just trying to look at it from both (hopefully my post is able to reflect that). I just think we should change the definition of ripping if its 'ok' to take Spider-man or Superman renders...lol...and remember every1 who makes the stocks, and renders we use...still have worked hard to make them...company or no company..paid or not paid...copyright or no copyright...

People wont have a case unless people make money off of the images they used.
