blah i agree that rendering game wallpapers and game stock is fine. but its different from deviant art because its totally original. i bet hundreds of gaming communities use the same wallpapers and stuff then hundreds more use it for certain parts of art. what that article is is really something else.

That news is ghey. ----- designers are willing to pay to have some of their stocks, be it bought or taken themselves, "rendered". Without you guys, some of em designers would die. Ok maybe thats an exaggeration, but not all designers can render hair as well as Huy-N for example. Its the existence of sites like GR that spring up "renderers" that for a fact, can make money out of that "fake" skill as dA calls it.

Basically, they're saying that cutting out images from existing images IS ripping. It's manipulating peoples works without their permission.

i dont wana be a smart but what if the copyright is expired?

im all for game renders and images of people. i dont think rendering makes u claim u made it or what. just that u cut out the art and stuff. they cant track everyone down for this lol

They probably just forgot to update the copyright on the site. And I was suprised to see all those stocks there, I mean wow lol. And tbh I dont think it will matter anyways, I can only think of a couple of sites that would ban use of those stocks.

All the other site wouldn't care or wouldn't do anything if you used the stocks, the most popular remark will be, I got it from a stock pack. So i

There are multiple copyrights available, and the main one never expires. Just because it has an © doesn't mean it's copyright. I'd ask for proof first, personally.

I see many people here on GR render images from Gamewallpapers.com
But i wonder if u ever looked on the small text on the right corner read it on any pic its a copyright. "No part of this wallaper may be reproduced or transmitted prior written consent of Gamewallpapers.com"
That sounds like a copyright to me.

We've spoken to GameWallPapers in the past, and they've okay'd rendering images. Considering the amount of business they've gained from our website, it's sort of something they readily accepted.

Good to read this section. Besides, its sigs people... Most countries also have different copyright rules. Some countries consider whatever you make originally or afterwards, like sigs, your property. And someone can take your sig, add a period and boom...its theirs... so, its good that everyone is sharing their ideas and real rules on this topic. Good read.

Andrew brings up some realistic points of view, and I am glad to have read these entire thread posts... Each site has different rules, regulations and view points, and overall, it depends on the owner of each site, as well.

I don't. None of my most recent signatures involve:
Brushes (except ones that come from Adobe, which I bought)
    Stock
    Renders
    C4D

Or anything which most "designers" rely upon to make a decent image. People just take shortcuts to make decent work, and rip off other people in the process.

it doesnt matter if the game companies decide to act on it or not, the fact is that it is in deed copyright infringement....same as "borrowing/sharing" music......w/e u call it, its still stealing
