Hey guys. I was just wondering what your favorite game review source is. Mine's GameTrailers. I know a lot of people like IGN, but I think their ratings are pretty arbitrary. What's your preference?
The day GameTrailers gave Halo 3 a better story score than Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots was the day I lost all respect for them. Infact, I lost all respect for all game reviewers that day, myself included .
IGN don't have a clue when it comes to actually giving games ratings. However, they've got the best reviews/guides etc. so IGN tends to be my first thoice.
bear in mind that thats probably a different team (different consoles). no doubt MGS4 is the better game. but it just seems like they review the amount of fun to be had in a game. they're not snobs. does anyone here read EGM? I hate their reviews.
Ratings mean nothign to me. I'd rather read a review that explains the elements of the game, the obvious p.ros, cons, bugs, graphics, etc, and then decide whether it's a game I'd like. Different people appreciate different things.
I just read upon games that I like either through kotaku, or different review sites and then make my decision from there.
I'm such a critical part of the global game development scene, that if a game is good enough to warrant me purchasing it, I probably made it.
I like getting a mix of IGN's review for the industry's look, GT's rating for a decent rating, and individuals' reviews off of youtube.
But Halo 3 does have a better story than MGS4 (OH NO YOU DI.....Yes I did). And yes, I get my reviews from GameTrailers. That, and that angry Australian/British dude that talk really fast.
I goto IGN, but only read through the gamers (players) reviews and look at the player ratings (maybe IGNs rating, not always though). GameTrailers is for trailers to games, they have some good ones.
